As a wood carver, I have worked with timber for many years and am able to supply fire surrounds from a range of simple yet elegant designs in solid timber (e.g. oak or maple). As carving is my main love, I can design and supply hand carved fire surrounds in a variety of timbers – mahogany, maple, oak, pine and ash to our own designs or to any style that you might wish. The most popular material at present for fire surrounds is marble and I can supply a wide range of styles and designs imported from Europe and the Far East. Marble has a timeless quality. Many fireplaces use the traditional carved styles but contemporary plain and simple designs also reflect the elegance and quality of this famous, almost revered, stone.
A common alternative to marble for many years has been limestone, a less expensive stone where the carving process is rather harder and therefore designs tend to be simpler. Nonetheless limestone has its own simple but distinctive style, and will grace any tastefully furnished room
Several marble and limestone style fireplaces are also available in composite or man made materials such as resin and marfil which have the appearance of the natural material. Although not of genuine stone, these fireplaces are more durable than natural stone and are resistant to materials that could leave a stain e.g. red wine. They are usually slightly less expensive than their natural stone counterparts.
Finally, I can supply fireplaces in cast iron in a wide variety of designs, some ornate and others comparatively simple. Fireplaces in cast iron are noted for their durability, and are often selected for use in cramped spaces or small rooms.
